The AI did not just list them. It generated positioning language for both companies, calling Spectrum "one of the few true turnkey installers in Wisconsin (not just resellers)" and crediting Fun Factory with "25+ years of experience" and a "strong reputation in the special needs therapy space." That framing was synthesized from publicly available content that we structured specifically for this kind of extraction.
Query 2: "What are the best sensory gym installers in the USA?" (ChatGPT)
Pulling the geography out of the query is where most regional companies lose visibility. National searches typically favor large generalist suppliers and equipment manufacturers, and a Wisconsin-based installer should not be expected to land in the top two against companies operating in fifty states.
Both clients did anyway.

The order flipped on this one, with Fun Factory taking the top slot and Spectrum landing at #2. We see this as a credibility signal more than a problem, because it shows the AI is making contextual judgments rather than defaulting to a static ranking. When the query is about scale and longevity, the company with 25+ years of history wins. When the query is about a turnkey buying decision, the more clinically focused option wins. Both lanes are owned.
Query 3: "Who installs sensory gyms?" (ChatGPT)
This is the broadest possible version of the query, with no geography, no qualifier, and no buyer signal beyond the verb. It is the kind of question someone asks when they are at the very beginning of their research and have not yet narrowed anything down.

ChatGPT structured its response by category here, splitting installers from manufacturers and resellers. Both clients took the top two positions inside the most valuable category, which is full-service design and installation. Royalty Sensory Gyms and Equip My Gym appeared below them, and equipment manufacturers were grouped separately further down the page. For a buyer comparing options, the AI is effectively pre-qualifying Spectrum and Fun Factory as the only two companies worth a real conversation.
Query 4: "Best sensory gym installer for commercial purposes?" (Google AI)
This is the B2B clinic-owner query. An ABA practice owner, a pediatric therapy clinic, or a school administrator with budget to allocate types this exact kind of search when they are ready to spend. Google AI returned a synthesized recommendation that named Fun Factory, Spectrum, and Summit Sensory Gym as the leading commercial installers.

Notice the language Google AI is generating in the lead paragraph. It is not just listing companies. It is synthesizing them into a single sentence that frames Fun Factory and Spectrum as the leading installers for therapy clinics, schools, and hospitals nationally. For a clinic owner skimming results, that single paragraph is doing more sales work than a dedicated landing page would. Both companies are being recommended in the most valuable surface on the entire Google search results page.
Query 5: "Best sensory gym installer for homes?" (Google AI)
Same engine, different buyer. This is the parent at the kitchen table on a Sunday night, scoping out a five-figure home install for their child. Google AI handled this query with an even more direct recommendation than the commercial version.

Google AI named Fun Factory directly as "the top-rated residential sensory gym installer" in the opening sentence. Spectrum followed as the second leading residential option. The same two clients are now leading both commercial and residential queries on Google AI, which mirrors the dominance pattern we already documented inside ChatGPT. Two engines, two buyer segments, same two companies in the top two slots.
Query 6: A full conversational buying query (ChatGPT)
The most important test we ran was not a keyword. It was a real, multi-part question that mirrors how parents actually use ChatGPT when they are weighing a five-figure home install:
"I want a sensory gym in my house for my child. Should I get it professionally installed? If so, what are the best options to do so? Who are the best installers in Wisconsin? What about the USA?"
ChatGPT did not just list companies. It walked through whether professional installation was even necessary, broke out the safety considerations, gave realistic pricing tiers ranging from $3,000 for basic setups up to $50,000 for full custom builds, and then closed the conversation with a direct buying recommendation.
The recommendation was, word for word: "Start with Spectrum Sensory Gyms. Also get a quote from Fun Factory Sensory Gym."

That is not a citation. That is a sales pitch delivered by an AI that the parent already trusts more than a Google ad. For a category where the average deal size sits well into five figures, a single answer like that is potentially worth more than a year of paid search spend.
How to show up in ChatGPT recommendations and Google AI results
